Summertime is just around the corner and last year I went to Chicago and enjoyed the Windy City with all its fabulous shopping. It also a good place to see great fashion on the streets. Since, it’s a popular tourist destination, you get to see people from all parts of the globe, and you get to see all the wonderful outfits and styles that people wear in real life.

This year I want to go some where a little different; some where that is all about summer fun. I’ve been checking out places to go, and I think I’m going to hit the beach! I’ve been looking at Caribbean hotels and Riviera Maya hotels to find a great place to stay that offers some good people watching. I figure these places are terrific for seeing people from different parts of the world, and they are also a stone’s throw away from true island life. I think it would be a fantastic way to see a wide range of fashion styles and ideas.

Hey, just because I’m on vacation doesn’t mean I have to stop loving fashion!

I was at Macy’s looking for a birthday gift for a friend, so of course I find something for myself. I was walking by the jewelry and I thought I would stop by the watches for a quick look. I haven’t been doing that as of late because I was always disappointed in not finding what I want, but not this time. There it was staring back at me from the jewelry counter case with that perfect face. Once I tried it on, there was no turning back, I HAD TO buy it … and I did.

The Skagen watch has a thin and light-weight design that doesn’t overwhelm my little wrist. And it has a simple look that can be worn year after year without going out of style.

Now that I have found my perfect watch, all is right in the world ; )

I have been doing a lot of online shopping lately … A LOT. I was browsing the Buckle.com and found a pair of jeans that I never thought I would buy.

See, I’m a child of the ‘80, and when I see a pair of black jeans, all I can think about is Glam Rock. (For those of you who aren’t familiar, look up Motley Crue, Whitesnake, Bon Jovi (circa1986) or Poison). Any self-respecting fan of glam rock in the 80s and early ’90s wore black denim. And anyone who wore the styles of the ’80s (the first time around), and dares to admit it, knows the scars that those fashion choices left, and how hard it is to wear certain things, even today, after almost 20 years past the decade - Don’t deny it, I know you still shudder inside when you see neon clothing.

I haven’t worn black jeans since 1989, and every time they make a style come back, I can’t get myself to even try a pair on. But now, I have found a pair of skinny, black, Miss Me jeans, and I think I am in love. The stretch material gives me a flattering and comfortable fit, while the black color makes them versatile enough for just about any occasion.

And besides, they look terrific with my favorite Warrant concert t-shirt … just kidding ; )

I love its sleek look and the gun-metal color of this watch, but it is nothing like the one that I originally set out to find. I want to buy it, but I don’t know if I can let go of my “dream” watch. I should have just bought with the first watch that I wrote about, but I felt the need to keep looking. I am now confused and doubting my decision making abilities - I’m also a little cold and hungry, but I’m pretty sure that doesn’t have anything to do with the watch. This is what I get for trying to be a thorough shopper.  I’ll keep you updated on my search.

My boyfriend has one particular pair of Lucky Brand jeans that I coveted and wished a woman’s version would be made. Then I remembered that I don’t need a female version of these jeans, I just need to buy those jeans in my size (the jeans in question are a slim, bootcut style that are pictured left). I found a great deal on buckle.com and decided that these Lucky jeans are my favorite pair ever. I wear them all the time and I even have a second pair on the way (I have to have a back up pair). I can dress them up with heels or wear them with a t-shirt and I always look cool - or at least I think so and that is all that matters ; )

The first time I saw them I listed every reason I could think of to not get them. I talked myself out of it time and time again. I would “visit” my beloved Gracious Goods canisters on Horchow.com on a daily basis, but never allowed myself to buy them. I added them to my cart several times only to leave without making the purchase.

I have been visiting my canisters for months, and when I finally decided that I was going to get them, I was surprised to see that they changed the name to the GG Collection. I don’t know why they did it, but at that point I just had to stay focused and make my purchase before I talked myself out of it yet again. At first I panicked after I submitted my order, but then I told myself that I deserved them! I have waited long enough. I work hard and if I know I will use them and love them for years to come, it is certainly worth it. AND I do love them! AND I do plan on using them for years to come! AND the fact that I am writing about them on my fashion blog is not in any way me trying to convenience myself that I made the right choice. Nope, not at all!

I am doomed by my imagination. I create items in my mind that I want, and then when I can’t find them, I get frustrated. I ONLY want what I have dreamed up knowing full well that it doesn’t exist. There are times when I find something close enough to satisfy my needs, but more often than not, I am left feeling empty.

The large-faced, dress watch is my new obsession at the moment, but I am only willing to spend so much on it. I have searched some of my favorite sites including Fossil, Amazon and Smart Bargains, but no luck. I have found a few on the Fossil site (one is pictured here, so you get an idea of what I want) that have come close, but not close enough.

The search goes on. I will keep you posted on my hunt.
